The reason for my post title today is this……
I tidied my kitchen cupboards and the bench at the cooker! This is so unlike me, hubs will really think I’ve lost the plot when he comes home and sees it!
I really needed to get my breadmaker off the worktop as it was taking up so much space, this has been achieved by buying a new storage rack for all the bento gear and plonking it out of sight beside the sideboard. The resulting spce and a little shuffling of the shelves in the cupboard gave me enough room to sort it all out. While I was at it, I sorted out all my dry goods in the cupboards. I’ve moved everything round (hee hee!) and thrown the out of date things in the bin, there wasn’t much, honest. *cough cough* Spices were the biggest culprit, I have found in the past when making a new dish there is alsways something I need that I don’t have and so I buy it, only for the same thing to end up in the bin a long time later when it has gone out of date. I’m going to try and see how I get on without 10 million bottles of spice in the cupboards when I’m cooking, I just have basic ones now like salt, pepper, paprika, garlic and a few sweet spices for baking.
Any suggestions on how to avoid this again? I’d like to know how you all manage, or are you secretly like me and hoard things until they go out of date????
